Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's side project, Pinhead Gunpowder, will release its first new record in eight years this May, according to Buzznet. The number of tracks on the seven-inch single has not been revealed, although the group did premiere several new songs during some rare shows they played in California in early February. Armstrong has been playing in the band since 1991, but its last release was a split seven-inch in 2000 with Dillinger Four.
Pinhead Gunpowder guitarist Jason White also plays guitar for Green Day on tour, while bassist Bill Schneider is Green Day's tour manager.
Meanwhile, Foxboro Hot Tubs, which is unofficially acknowledged to be Green Day in disguise, will release their full-length debut album, Stop Drop and Roll, on April 29th. The band has posted a new song called "The Pedestrian" at its MySpace page.
Stop Drop and Roll is an expanded version of a six-song EP that was initially available only as a download from the Hot Tubs web site.
The Hot Tubs are signed to Warner Bros. Records, which is Green Day's major label home, and Green Day's official Web site has featured news and updates on the band.
