Yeah, today is my birthday! I like having birthdays, but hate the fact that I am getting older. (I know…it beats the alternative.)

I’m at the age where most people don’t know if I’m in my 30s or 40s. They still card me at the Big Easy. I KNOW that I look older than 21.

But occasionally someone in a store will ask me if I qualify for the 55 year-old senior discount. I KNOW that I don’t look 55. Certainly if I qualified for a discount, I would speak up and tell them so. I’m all about a bargain. Instead, some insensitive clerk leaves me feeling horrible for the rest of the day.

What makes me feel a little better though is when I realize that most of my favorite singers are in their 50s AND 60s…Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Daryl Hall, Sammy Hagar, Don Henley and Elton John. I’m still a much “younger” woman to them, should they ever decide to leave their wives (or life partner.)
